Wow, has it been a while since updating! I have really
slacked on taking pictures, but it’s that time of year where pictures are
essential, so I will get back to it soon! It has been a crazy and hectic few
weeks for us. It seems the kids keep getting bit by the sickness bug…Maddie
went to the doctor yesterday and has strep so is on antibiotics and an inhaler;
now Anthony isn’t feeling well (fingers crossed it does not progress into
anything); and Kynsie is happy as can be so no sickness…yet…for her! It just
seems to have recycled through the kids’ one at a time for the past month now.
I suppose that’s the joys of public schooling!
I had a meeting with the kid’s teachers yesterday and I am
one proud momma! Madison is doing
EXCELLENT! Nothing but good remarks. She is that student that wants to get her
work done as quickly as possible just to help others. She passed with a 100% on
all of her sight words and even read a book to the teacher, amazing her at her
progress so soon in the school year. She has a 95 in math and a 98 in reading
so she is doing very well. A funny story to share—she has a friend, Joseph, in
her class who would walk with her to class every morning and was one that
Maddie mentioned every single day when asking what she did in school. One day,
over the weekend, it was Joseph’s birthday. So when he returned to school the
following week he wasn’t talking to Maddie anymore upsetting her. On the way to
school one day she told us that he wasn’t her friend anymore because he had
told her that he is six years old now and is a ‘man.’ Since she is only five
and not an adult he couldn’t be her friend. Haha! This really upset her, so I
think she is hoping when she turns six, they can be “best friends” again. Kids
these days J
Anthony made A-B Honor Roll and passed his AR reading goals
again. His teacher told me that she wishes more of the parent/teacher
conferences could go as smoothly as it did with him, as he had nothing to
improve on, nothing to report—no negativity at all! She said that she wished she
could have a “class full of all Anthony’s!” He was also safety patrol for the
school for the 1st Quarter but the teacher adores him so much that
she specifically asked to have Anthony on the team another quarter (he is the
only one!) and he is CAPTAIN, in charge of overlooking the other patrols.
Walking to the conference yesterday, a man walking with his family saluted to
Anthony and said it was the “school security guard” and thanked him for being
on patrol everyday. Anthony gloated from ear to ear and was so proud of himself
and said this man salutes him every morning while walking his kids to class. It
was a very proud moment as a parent to hear not only the teachers recognizing
the great personalities of my children, but also another parent. It does my heart
well to know that we may have issues with them at home with their
listening/behavior skills, but when they leave our home, they know the
difference between right and wrong and do what they know is proper. We must be
doing something right with our parenting! That is so rewarding to hear too
because so many times you have scream into a pillow, bang your head against the
wall days as a parent, questioning what you are doing wrong.
Now a little report on McKynsie…well, she is into
EVERYTHING! Cabinets are always rearranged, toys are everywhere but she is so
good. She is a mellow child with an always happy attitude. She loves Fresh Beat
Band, so if she is ever a little grumpy, you can just put that on and voila! We
are truly blessed with 3 amazing children.
That is the latest on the kids! Halloween is next week and
we are hoping to make it out to the school’s Fall Festival. Maddie will be
Belle (Nana’s favorite!!!), Kynsie, possibly Tinkerbelle and Anthony is
dressing in camo as an army guy. He is not wanting to go trick or treating and
even doesn’t want to dress up for Pajama Day at school tomorrow, advising me it
is “rather…childish.” LOL, he is getting too big too quick!!! Well, we hope all
is well where you are! More pictures will follow soon!!! Sending lots of hugs,
kisses and smiles through the miles! xoxoxoxoxo
